‘Twilight’ star Robert Pattinson says he isn’t anything like his character, Tyler, in the movie ‘Remember Me.’ He opened up to Parade Magazine.

“When it comes to the opposite sex, I’m not as fully confident as the guy I play. I don’t even remember the last time I asked someone out on a date, like, just went up to them and that’s the first thing I did. I’m much more self-conscious and not wanting to fail. So I tend to hold back.”

So even famous movie stars feel that way, huh? Then again, isn’t he dating Kristen Stewart?

Robert also talked about his regrets.

“I related to Tyler in that I wish I could have done things like he did when I had the opportunity. There is something quite satisfying about being a little bit more reckless and even fighting. It’s quite cathartic to just sort of randomly start hitting someone. It was fun kind of, letting all your rage go on the set. We had this big scene where I punch out some guys. It went fine and nobody was really hurt at all.

But, at the end, I was like doing this thing where I was hitting myself in the arm, sort of pumping myself up. They cut it out of the movie, but I punched myself so hard that I was in a lot of pain for the rest of the shoot. It was the most stupid thing I’ve ever done.”

Maybe Robert was thinking about the critics’ reviews of ‘New Moon,’ which he didn’t like.

Interviews are part of the process of being an actor, but I can see where they would make someone nervous: there’s no script! ‘Twilight’ star Robert Pattinson confessed recently that talking about himself makes him nervous and he’d just as soon stay out of the spotlight when he isn’t acting.

“During interviews I’m incredibly nervous. I don’t want there to be a silence, because I’ll start crying out of nervousness. I just say the first thing that comes into my head. But the only way to establish any kind of mystique is to completely shut up and never talk to anyone. Unfortunately, I have to. It’s in my contract.”

Contractual obligations can be good motivators- lol.

Robert also said he isn’t comfortable watching himself onscreen.

“I took my mother to the ‘Twilight’ premiere and squirmed through the first ten minutes. But in the end I couldn’t bear it, so I had to leave and went out and sat in the car.

“I hate watching myself on screen, because I’m constantly worried that I’ll look like a fraud. Even before I started acting, I was constantly thinking I was faking my emotions. I remember when I was a teenager thinking my girlfriend was cheating on me, and going around riling myself up, pretending to cry. It was totally illegitimate – I actually didn’t feel anything.”

I’ve heard a lot of actors say that; I bet they become more comfortable with experience

I love Rob’s interviews because he says things that are unusual and funny. And he seems to be growing more comfortable. What do you think?
